Jakarta Provincial Government to Announce Companies Illegally Dumping Waste

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government will publicly name the companies that illegally dump and stockpile waste.

We will announce everything to the public

He stated this in response to the many private entities indiscriminately dumping waste, which has impacted environmental conditions.

The private company is known to collect waste from the hotel, restaurant, and café sector. However, Pram added, they are not responsible for its management.

"I have instructed the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency to immediately publicly identify the perpetrators who collected waste from that sector and irresponsibly dumped it at an illegal site," stated Pramono, Friday (8/7).

Pram—as he is familiarly known—stated that when the waste pile triggered environmental and social issues, the company failed to take responsibility and disappeared, forcing the Jakarta Provincial Government to step in and resolve the problem.

This incident has occurred repeatedly at various locations, sparking widespread discussion on social media, including a pile of trash situated not far from SDN Kedaung Kali Angke in Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

In response to this, Pramono immediately instructed his staff, particularly the Environmental Agency, to clear away the trash.

"Indeed, once again it is the private sector that is doing it. And something like this shouldn't happen," he said.

Therefore, the Governor instructed his staff to take firm action against the perpetrators. Additionally, he urged the HoReCa sector not to use their services.

"We will announce everything to the public. And we will ask hotels, restaurants, cafes that have been served by them not to use their services again," he emphasized.
